Glacier lilies at their best in Wells Gray Park

If you want to see the most amazingly beautiful sight, head up to the Trophy Meadows in Wells Gray Park, just north of Clearwater BC. The meadows are carpeted with yellow glacier lilies and white spring beauty flowers. Fox Sparrows, Savannah Sparrows, Hermit Thrushes and Yellow-rumped Warblers are among the many birds calling from the clumps of conifers scattered through this subalpine meadow. Further up the mountain, Horned Larks and American Pipits were displaying and singing, and we saw a short-tailed weasel, hoary marmot (see photo below) and many Columbian ground squirrels.
